Admissions

NASA ScholarHFA welcomes young women who are interested in becoming learners and leaders for a lifetime! We encourage 6th, 7th and 8th grade students to visit in September during Open House; 8th grade students to enroll in Falcon-for-a-Day program in October and November; all students to attend games, plays and special events such as Fun Night. Private Tours for parents and students can also be arranged.

Admission Process:
  • HFA admissions is based on the results of the COOP Admissions Examination administered by the Archdiocese of Newark, or the TACHS Examination administered by the Archdiocese of New York, as well as the official elementary school transcript and application.
  • The COOP will be administered at HFA and in area schools on Friday, November 9, 2007. Information and applications are available at Catholic elementary schools, at HFA, or online through http://www.coopexam.org or by mail at coop@ctb.com Information is also available at the archdiocesan website www.rcan.org/schools/hsadmis_r.html.
  • Included in the test registration packet is a ninth grade applicant record. Students should submit these records to their principals or eighth grade teachers after identifying the three Catholic high schools to which they choose to have their records sent. School officials will complete the transcripts and send them to the appropriate schools. NY residents should request that their schools send the applicant record to Holy Family and HFA will request TACHS scores.
  • Registration for the ninth grade takes place on the first Saturday in February according to archdiocesan policy. Students who apply after this date should call the Studies Office (201-339-7142, ext. 13) for information on completing the process.
  • HFA Admissions for upper grade students usually requires an appointment, transfer card from previous school, registration form and transcript record. MIdyear transfers are possible only if the previous school was also on a 4x4 intensive schedule. Call the main office (201-339-7341) for further information and to schedule an appointment.

Scholarships and Financial Aid
The Sister Joan O'Donnell Presidential Scholarship and other academic scholarships are offered annually to eighth graders on the basis of their COOP scores, their transcripts and their elementary school recommendations. These scholarships are renewable each year for students who maintain good academic, disciplinary and service records.

Financial Aid is offered to students whose parents demonstrate financial need by completing an application from Private School Aid Service which is available at Registration or through the Finance Office. Students are strongly encouraged to take the COOP exam and submit applications to HFA because individuals, foundations and faith-based agencies offer additional assistance to families who have applied. For more information, call Mrs. Denise Lew, Business Manager, at 201-339-7341 x15.

Holy Family held its Fall Open House on 9/23 & 9/24/2007.

Private tours may be scheduled at other times in the school year. Call the school office at 201-339-7341 or the Development Office at 201-436-9144 for an appointment.
